Say goodbye

willies curl

I was sad to and rather surprised to hear that Willie's Cafe has closed. It is right next to Woodlands Market in Kentfield, and across the street from the College of Marin. With a 5% increase in enrollment reported, I thought there would even be more mouths watering for some of the cafe's delicious offerings. Thanks for the good food and memories Willie's Cafe!

That's too bad; Willie's was pretty plebian for that neck of the woods, however. The next one will likely serve mixed greens salads and trendy, expensive foods.

Perhaps after the economy revives? It seemed a good place for 2-year students to get a decent bite...

That's just plain sad... we knew the owners and they always were extremely considerate to us.

We were over there not long ago, and we were told by the guy who was in there that they are just remodeling, not closing. Don't know if that's accurate, but it was what we were told.

OurSausalito: Yes, you could tell that the owners cared about this place.

Anonymous: I hope so! That would be great news.

I am the old manager of Willie's, and unfortunately the owner Carlo Servino closed without any prior notice to myself or the other staff. Everyone was devastated, he didn't even pay us our last checks!!! I did try to purchase it to keep Willie's alive, but the owner of woodlands market had first dibs according to his lease and he didn't want to give me the chance! i guess his 25 million a year isn't enough. So you are right, it will not be the same, they will never create what we had. thanks to all our loyal customers you will be missed. Shannan Pareja
